# The Mackey Arena floor guitar

A guitar we made from the Purdue basketball court. I played it for the national anthem prior to the rivalry game of Purdue v. IU, then auctioned it off to support the Purdue Guitar Lab.

Date

2024

A Purdue for Life colleague had saved wood from the old Mackey Arena court. I brought it to the Purdue Guitar Lab with an idea: turn it into a guitar.

Gryphon Mawhorter, a Purdue Polytechnic student, crafted it into a baritone guitar. I played the National Anthem on it at Purdue vs IU, and then it went to auction for the Guitar Lab. With direct gifts, the Lab raised $11,500.
